Call 734-996-3229 and state that you need a lawyer referral. You will speak briefly and confidentially with one of our staff members about your matter to determine what type of lawyer you need. There is a $30 administrative fee for the service which must be prepaid. We will then give you the name and contact information of the attorney. The attorney will provide up to a 30 minute consultation. It may take two to five business days before you speak with the attorney. The LRIS is not an emergency service.
At the conclusion of the initial consultation, you and the lawyer have no further obligation to each other. Fees for additional services after the initial consultation of up to 30 minutes are arranged between you and the lawyer.
Why do I need a lawyer?
It’s always a good idea to check with a lawyer before you make important decisions. Whether you’re buying a house, making a business deal, or settling a dispute, a short talk with a lawyer often tells you all you need to know. After your consultation, you’ll know the seriousness of your matter, how to handle it swiftly, and how to handle it correctly. A consultation with a lawyer now can save you money and aggravation down the road.
FAMILY LAW MODEST MEANS PROGRAM
This is a new program created in January 2012 and operates under the LRIS guidelines. This program was created to help those with a moderate income find affordable legal assistance with Family Law matters. Attorneys who choose to participate have agreed to an hourly rate of not more than $75 per hour. To apply, click on this link for the application, read it carefully and follow the instructions. You will receive a reply from the WCBA office within 5 business days to let you know if you qualify, though the attorney will make the final decision. If you wish to scan the documents and email them to our office, please use firstname.lastname@example.org and put 'Modest Means' in the subject line.
